More than a hundred undocumented immigrants were threatened with expulsion. They have been squatting in a former rest home since November.
Undocumented immigrants currently occupy two accommodations in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean: one located on Chaussée de Gand and the other on Rue August Van Zande.
In a letter, the Justice of the Peace notes “occupation without title or right“. Therefore, she condemns them “to clear the disputed premises (…) and this no later than three weeks following the notification of this judgment“. The Justice of the Peace also specifies that she “authorizes now and for the time being, any bailiff required to expel him“.

The former rest home, located on Van Zande Street, has been empty for some time. Since November, it has been occupied by 112 undocumented immigrants, including around twenty children, explains Delya from CSPBIB to our colleagues at BRUZZ. The collective explains that “the occupation is peaceful and the neighborhood is not bothered by us“. The building, offered for sale, would have found a buyer. This is the Jean Titeca Hospital Center, which is looking for a new address for its psychiatric center. However, the latter “do not wish to purchase the building as long as we live there“, poursuit Delya.

The decision of the Justice of the Peace “does not fall under the application of the winter moratorium provided for in terms of residential leases in the Brussels Housing Code“, specifies the letter received by Delya.
This judgment was pronounced on December 21.
