Physician George Sapego in his Zen blog told regarding what can be considered a vitamin D deficiency in reality. According to him, there is often confusion due to measurements in analyzes and recommendations, when people look only at the numbers, not paying attention to what is indicated behind them – nanomoles per liter (these indicators are always higher) or nanograms per milliliter. “To translate one into another, you need to divide by 2.5,” the doctor explained. That is, 50 nm / l is the same as 20 ng / ml. “Then everything fits together. Vitamin D deficiency would be considered a level below 20 ng/mL (or 50 nm/L), and vitamin D deficiency would be considered a level below 12 ng/mL (or 30 nm/L). All sorts of hellish thousands of units of vitamin D are prescribed only for deficiency, ”summed up Georgy Sapego.
