A strong earthquake occurred in Japan at 4:10 pm yesterday.
Less than two hours later, at 6:01 p.m., the tsunami reached Namhangjin, Gangneung.
It was 30 minutes earlier than the Korea Meteorological Administration predicted.
Tsunami waves began to surge in other areas of the east coast.
The highest height is 85cm in Mukho Port, Donghae City.
The tsunami, which gradually subsided following that, gradually stabilized as it decreased to less than 10 cm around 8 a.m. today.

A tsunami warning is issued when the tsunami height exceeds 50cm, and a warning is issued when the tsunami height exceeds 1m.
Although tsunami waves may be lower in height than typhoon waves or huge waves, they are no less powerful.
The speed of tsunami propagation is faster the deeper the sea.
On the east coast, where the water depth is 2km, the tsunami propagation speed is regarding 500km per hour.
