Philosopher Alexander Dugin commented on the sensational article by political scientist Sergei Karaganov on the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons. Before the time to talk regarding this, he considers irresponsible.
“I think this is an extreme case. I believe that we are far from having exhausted all the possibilities of victory without the use of nuclear weapons,” Dugin told Fontanka on the sidelines of SPIEF on June 15. “But of course, I understand, as our president said, that there will be no world without Russia at all. This needs to be taken seriously.”
Alexander Dugin emphasized that with the current resources, “it is irresponsible to talk regarding a nuclear apocalypse ahead of time”: “People like Karaganov: either they glorify Western civilization for decades, or they become extreme Russian patriots. And there and there there is no measure, there must be some kind of sequence. We have not yet exhausted everything to talk regarding nuclear weapons, but we must not forget regarding this either, this is the last way out. Everyone should understand that as a last resort it will be.”
Recall, political scientist Sergei Karaganov previously published an article entitled “A Difficult But Necessary Decision.” In it, he justified the possible use of nuclear weapons by Russia in confrontation with the West. “This is a morally terrible choice – we use the weapons of God, dooming ourselves to heavy spiritual losses,” he formulated, adding that the winners are not judged.
SPIEF 2023 is taking place in St. Petersburg on June 14–17. Fontanka is following him online.
