Diabetes It is one of the chronic diseases that has many complications in the event of lack of interest in its treatment, and during this report we will learn regarding the reality of the effect of diabetes since childhood on the sexual and reproductive ability in old age, according to the speech of Dr. Lamia Khairy, pediatric diabetes consultant, for the seventh day.

Lamia explained that there are many complications of type 1 diabetes that children suffer from. If the normal rate of sugar is not maintained, puberty may be delayed in children, as diabetes affects all body systems in several different ways. It is caused by a high level of blood sugar on the arteries or on the immune system, so the incidence of microbial infections and fungi increases, and this is in addition to other methods that have not been explained so far.

And the diabetes consultant added that all these effects fade when blood sugar levels are controlled and follow-up, as a child who suffers from a high sugar rate does not grow normally, and is affected by this in adulthood, as it may be delayed, and therefore sugar must be controlled, as most of these children reach puberty within several months. From controlling sugar, and if puberty does not occur with age and with controlling the level of sugar, another reason must be sought.

She indicated that diabetes increases the possibility of some cardiovascular diseases, such as coronary artery disease, which is accompanied by chest pain, heart attacks, stroke, narrowing of the arteries, high blood pressure, and nerve damage, as excess sugar in the blood damages the walls of the small blood vessels that feed the nerves. Especially in the legs, and this may cause a feeling of tingling, numbness, burning or pain, and this usually begins in the tips of the toes or fingers of the hands and gradually spreads to the top. Lack of good control of the level of sugar in the blood may lead to a complete loss of sensation in the affected limbs with passing the time.

High and uncontrolled blood sugar levels, and through nerve damage, may cause erectile dysfunction in men and poor sexual ability. Diabetics may also suffer from hardening of the arteries, which may lead to a lack of blood supply to the penis and erectile dysfunction in men. High sugar in women also leads to Inflammation of the reproductive organs with microbes and fungi, so the sugar level must be controlled and these infections treated, otherwise childbearing will be delayed.
