Al-Marsad Newspaper: Cardiologist Dr. Munawwar Al-Enezi revealed 4 reasons that lead to high blood pressure in the morning, and the most appropriate time to take blood pressure medication.

Al-Enezi said in a tweet via his Twitter account: Be careful of the morning pressure surge, explaining: Most research indicates that high blood pressure in the morning from 6 to 10 am increases the risk of strokes, whether in the heart or brain.

Possible causes of high blood pressure in the morning include:

1- An increase in the activity of the sympathetic system during that period, which is the organ responsible for increasing the intensity of the heart’s pumping and the level of the pulse.

2- The inadequacy of medications for many hypertensive patients, when using medications whose effect does not cover 24 hours.

3- The insistence of some doctors to use only one treatment for pressure for a patient who may need two treatments.

4- Giving low doses of blood pressure medication.

He continued: It does not seem that the time of taking the treatment is as important in this regard as the importance of covering the full twenty-four hours of treatment, adding: Make sure to measure the pressure in the morning, and the best time is a quarter of an hour following waking up and before breakfast and taking medications.
