Mowafi said during his program “My Lord, Increase My Knowledge,” broadcast on Sada El Balad channel, that the vital organ he is referring to is the “brain,” noting that it is the organ in the body that consumes the most sugar.

The professor of critical care medicine added that the process of absorbing sugar by the body’s cells only takes place in the presence of the hormone insulin, which is secreted by beta cells in the pancreas, with the exception of the brain, which receives glucose without needing it.

He stressed the need to quickly deal with low blood sugar by eating a piece of candy, because continued low blood sugar may lead to a diabetic patient entering a coma.

Mowafy concluded his speech by pointing out that there are symptoms from which a diabetic patient can infer low blood sugar, such as sweating, body tremors, extreme hunger, and dizziness.
