The liver is an essential organ in the body, as it helps break down the food you eat to turn it into energy, and removes toxins from the blood.

In most cases, fatty liver disease does not present with symptoms during the early stages. As the disease progresses, signs can appear throughout the body.

Fatty liver disease develops in 4 stages, and the fourth and final stage is known as “cirrhosis,” which is scarring of the liver resulting from long-term, continuous liver damage, according to what was stated in the “timesofindia” website.

Symptoms that appear on your skin:

Some people with cirrhosis will notice 4 changes to their skin. These include:

itchy skin

Yellowing of the skin and eyes.

Small red lines on the skin above the waist.

Easy bruising.

Other signs of cirrhosis

One also suffers from the following symptoms:

Tired.

Anorexia.

Weight loss.

Nausea.

Pain around the liver area.

Frequent nosebleeds or bleeding gums.

hair loss

fever.

Swelling of the legs, ankles, feet, and abdomen.

So it is necessary to consult a specialist doctor if you notice any of the above symptoms.

Risk factors:

There are several risk factors that can increase your risk of developing fatty liver disease, including:

Obesity or overweight.

Having type 2 diabetes.

Insulin resistance.

Polycystic ovary syndrome.

Thyroid.

Hypertension.

High levels of harmful cholesterol.

getting old.

smoking.

Complications:

If left untreated, cirrhosis of the liver causes the liver to stop working and this is called liver failure, which can be fatal, however, it usually takes years for the condition to reach this stage.

Therefore, getting timely treatment is essential to improve the chance of recovery.
