After giving birth, generally your stomach will shrink once more within 6-8 weeks. However, not a few mothers whose stomach condition does not shrink even following giving birth for several weeks.
If Mother feels this way, it is very likely that Mother will experience a condition called diastasis recti. According to Parents, diastasis recti is a condition when the right and left sides of the abdominal muscles experience separation. As a result, the condition of the stomach will look bloated.
Diastasis recti itself is caused because the muscles around the stomach become thinner and widen due to the growth of the Little One in the womb. These separated muscles will generally return to normal following a while, but in some cases more extra care is needed.
This condition is very common for almost all pregnant women in the world. The influence of hormones during pregnancy also plays an important role in increasing the risk of diastasis recti.
