Pulmonary embolism It is one of the chronic diseases that affect the lungs, and a person suffers from obstruction when chronic inflammation occurs in the patient’s bronchial tubes. This leads to narrowing of the bronchial tubes, which results in abnormal entry and exit of air into the individual’s body.

Causes of obstructive pulmonary disease:

Dr. Hani Shaarawy, Professor of Chest Diseases at Alexandria Medicine, said that the causes of obstructive pulmonary disease are due to several factors, including the main factor that occurs in most cases, which is smoking, which leads to chronic inflammation in the bronchial tubes, thus narrowing those bronchial tubes beyond their normal condition. Naturally, this causes the patient difficulty in exhaling and inhaling.

The consultant pointed out that there are other factors that cause obstructive pulmonary disease, such as regular exposure to polluted air, for example people who work in an unhealthy work environment, such as miners, and sometimes there is pollution that occurs inside homes through the lack of good ventilation inside kitchens and exposure to smoke. All of this puts you at risk of developing obstructive pulmonary disease.

The chest consultant explained that if bronchitis occurs and pulmonary embolism occurs, it is difficult to return the bronchial tubes to their normal state once more, so the disease becomes chronic and the patient constantly needs treatment with medications, in order to expand the bronchial tubes to achieve good breathing.

The consultant explained ways to expand the airways of a patient with pulmonary embolism by using sprays that benefit the chest area only and have very few side effects, or certain types of tablets, and treatment continues for life in patients with pulmonary embolism.
