The Underfest festival confirms three new international names in its programming for this 2023. Thus the American Sam Amidona reference to the American folk-rock scene is incorporated into the event’s poster, as is The Dictators y John Grant, who join the festival inside the Underfest Bitesa cycle of concerts through which they have already passed Angry y Miranda & The Beat and that was born this year with the intention of keeping the spirit of the event alive before and following the festival.
These artists join the 14 names already confirmed, Blood Red Shoes, _Juno, La Élite, PVA, Ciel, Queidem, LaTorre, Los Mejillones Tigre, Mueveloreina, La Perra Blanco, Yung Prado, Alex Silva, Henry Warrington and Paul Weller, who will perform in the olive city on the next 15 and 16 of September. In addition, from the organization they advance that Parallel activities will take place on September 13 and 14 which will be announced soon.
The general subscriptions for the festival sold out within a few hours of going on sale, without knowing any artist on the poster, so only day tickets are available for Friday and Saturday programming, along with individual tickets for some of the concerts. Sam Amidon
Born in Vermont (Wisconsin-USA), music has been part of Sam Amidon since he began to take his first steps on earth. Multi-instrumentalist capable of playing guitar, banjo and fiddle like a charm Among others, he inherited his love for roots songs from his parents. Throughout an impeccable career, well supported at times by a diverse and enriching list of collaborators, including his wife Beth Orton, the North American has seasoned the most purely traditional style with a certain experimental license, approaching psychedelia, free-jazz and indie-rock. Starch expands and transforms the genre into a contemporary, exciting and always fascinating style.
Amidon’s output includes critically acclaimed albums such as “All Is Well” (2008)“I See The Sign” (2010), “Bright Sunny South” (2013) o “Lily-O” (2014), a collaboration with pioneering avantjazz guitarist Bill Frisell.
The Dictators (October 2)
To speak of the Dictators is to do so a true legend of the R’n’R and punk rock scene. New Yorkers have been turning every stage they step on upside down for decades and on this new tour with unique date in Galicia, come to Underfest to show why they are a reference band. Formed in NYC in 1973, their legacy and influence throughout all these years is unquestionable, with the mythical Ross The Boss y Andy Shernof in command and forming a luxury band with Albert Bouchard on drums, founding member of the also mythical Blue Öyster Cult.
Originally formed as a tribute/response to MC5, Flamin’ Groovies, New York Dolls y The Stooges, The Dictators they ended up playing an equally crucial and inspiring role for generations to come. Anthems, acid and shameless humor, social criticism, trash culture and all that energy that they still have.
John Grant (November 19)
After a career that began in the 90s at the head of the cult band The Czarsthe trajectory of John Grant solo has been plagued with successes and ups and downs. She has collaborated with massive artists such as Elton John, Kylie Minogue o Robbie Williams or others like Elbow, Midlake o Richard Hawleyto embrace the darkness in a time of alcoholism and drugs.

Underfest brings the musician to Galicia for the first time, who grew up between Michigan and Denver.
