Masters Walter Damen and Davina Simons are unhappy with a number of articles that appeared online Thursday and in newspapers Friday about the “Pichal affair”. “These articles contain misinformation and fabrications, which make it difficult for readers to distinguish between fiction and fact. Such publications do not demonstrate sound journalism at all.” They will therefore file a complaint with the Press Council.
Sven Pichal, a VRT host, is in prison for a child pornography case
“We would like to emphasize that we wish the investigation to continue in peace and that we will refrain from commenting on the contents of the case,” the lawyers said.
Sven Pichal was arrested last week on suspicion of possessing and disseminating child sexual abuse images. He then resigned with immediate effect from the VRT, where he notably presented “De Inspecteur” on Radio 2.
