Alexander Orozco Zambrano was a key player in the investigations to determine how the alleged infiltration of the ‘Carolina Ramírez’ structure of the FARC dissidents alias ‘Iván Mordisco’ was in the Selva Battalion No. 49 of the National Army in La Tagua, Putumayo .

The young 19-year-old soldier died this Wednesday due to the severity of his injuries following an exchange of shots with the National Police was reported during the capture process on the Caquetá River. Another person who accompanied him was also arrested.

Orozco was expected to fully recover so that he might give statements to the competent authorities regarding how he carried out the massacre in that battalion, which left a captain, a sergeant and a soldier as victims, and his alleged collaboration with the dissidents.

However, in dialogue with Caracol Radio, General Vladimir Nossa, commander of the Sixth Division of the Army, revealed that soldier Orozco would have managed to comment on other possible infiltrators of FARC dissidents in that military unit.

“We are with our Inspection and an interdisciplinary team giving guarantees and respecting the rights of military personnel. We have these indications (of possible infiltration of the ‘Carolina Ramírez’ structure) and if so, we will bring them to justice,” said the general.

“We have identified three people there who in one way or another were related to the events (the massacre of three soldiers in the battalion) or who at some point the soldier Alexander Orozco commented on,” said the commander of the Sixth Division.

One of the modalities that this armed group would have used would be to approach young soldiers between 19 and 24 years old to offer them money in different amounts in exchange for stealing weapons, quartermasters, special equipment and murdering soldiers. “They try to infiltrate or penetrate military and police personnel,” he said.
