From a simple entry error to proven fraud, with employees on reduced working hours (RHT), forced by their boss to work: the “undue perception” of benefits for partial unemployment in the context of the health crisis, favored by the urgency of the situation, might take multiple forms. At the end of September, the sum recovered by the Confederation in this respect was around 115.6 million francs. It thus clearly exceeds the 100 million francs that the State Secretariat for the Economy (Seco) expected to recover when it announced the strengthening of its control system.
And “in view of the extraordinary volume of payments in the event of a reduction in working hours (RHT) during the pandemic, controls will be further expanded by 2026”, indicated to Temps the Seco. It was able to carry out 1754 checks on the 2242 suspicious cases which were announced to it on the basis in particular of the alert launch. Nearly 500 of them were identified as errors and 83 turned out to be abuse, supporting evidence following an audit carried out by external specialist firms, according to the latest report posted online. last week. In addition to the reimbursement of unduly received services, fraudsters are exposed to a monetary penalty of up to 180 day fines, or even a prison sentence of up to 6 months.
