The world of seventh art has never been so shaken. Judith Godrèche spoke on the evening of the César ceremony, on February 23, to denounce the silence that weighs on the cinema industry. Today, men are joining forces with the movement launched by women with the hashtag #MeTooGarçons – and the creation of the email address metooacteur@gmail.com by casting director Stéphane Gaillard. In recent days, testimonies from actors who are victims of sexual violence have been pouring in… and actor Francis Renaud has even filed a complaint.
Known for his numerous roles in Olivier Marchal’s productions but also for his performances in French series, such as Léo Mattéi, Julie Lescaut, Les Cordier judge and cop or A French village, Francis Renaud announced that he was addressing justice on social networks. He thus shared the photograph of a complaint targeting the director André Téchiné and the casting director Gérard Moulevrier for “sexual harassment, serious pressure to perform an act of a sexual nature, repeated death threats and sexual assault.“Facts which allegedly took place from 1988 to 2004.
His complaint comes the day following the testimony of Aurélien Wiik, who reveals that he was abused from the ages of 11 to 15 by his agent and other members of his entourage. Contacted by the newspaper The Parisian, Francis Renaud did not wish to say more. He had, following all, explained the situation in his book Rage in the heart, published in 2018. He then said that a “great casting director“said to him:”Cooking rights exist. To succeed, you have to sleep“He would then have put his hand between her thighs for him.”catch the penis gently through” his pants. After his refusal, the actor would have been “blacklists“.
As for André Téchiné, he would have, one day, taken her hand to say: “You disturb me a lot, Francis, you should go further!“. To which the director responded, via a press release sent to the newspaper The Parisian couple are avocate Me Julia Minkowski: “I’m obviously sorry that he was embarrassed by my sentimental, awkward verbal approach at that lunch.he writes. I was of course wrong, at the time, in not being able to perceive that our relationship was not on an equal footing in his eyes because of my status as director. On the other hand, I can only express my incomprehension today regarding this filing of a criminal complaint.“
André Téchiné and Gérard Moulevrier remain presumed innocent of the acts with which they are accused until the closure of these various cases.
