On World Dog Day, the focus is on love for man’s most loyal companion. But for 131 dogs at TierQuarTier Vienna it’s another day of waiting. Many of them have sad stories behind them – they were neglected, lived in difficult conditions or were simply abandoned. Despite everything, they long for a second chance and a loving home.
51 of the dogs are “permanent guests” – they have been living in the animal shelter for over a year and are still hoping to be discovered by a family.
„Every dog at TierQuarTier has its own story and is waiting to start a new chapter in a loving home. It’s hard not to lose hope, especially for our long-term residents. We hope that more people will take the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to animal welfare by giving a dog from the animal shelter a new life.”explains Thomas Benda, operations manager of TierQuarTiers Vienna.
World Dog Day is a reminder that an animal shelter should not be a dog’s forever home. It’s a call to all animal lovers to consider giving one of these dogs a chance at a better life. Adoption not only means giving an animal a new home, but also making lasting changes to their life.

On Saturday, November 9th, an information event specifically on the topic of listed dogs will take place at TierQuarTier Vienna. Of the 131 dogs in TierQuarTier, 52 are listed dogs who are often waiting for a new home due to prejudice. Many of them suffer from the stress of animal shelter life and need people who are willing to offer them a new perspective with patience, time and the necessary care. Since list dogs often have special training needs, it is important that interested parties are aware that these dogs require consistent but loving training. The event is aimed at serious interested parties who are ready to deal with the special challenges of these dogs.
