Uncle against nephew: family duel in the regional league

Hopefully this duel in the regional football league between Askö Oedt and UVB Vöcklamarkt will not trigger any family disputes: Gerald Baumgartner, Trauner’s sports director, is the uncle of Bernhard Kletzl, the coach of today’s opponents – today it’s all about important points for both.

And the former Bundesliga coach Baumgartner is no stranger to the Hausruckviertel: Even today, Vöcklamarkt fans get excited when they think of the performances of the now 59-year-old, who played for the Green-Yellows between 1998 and 2001. Even Vöcklamarkt coach Kletzl can still remember it: “I always watched him as a little boy in Vöcklamarkt.”

Gmunden wants to write

The LASK Amateurs are still stuck at the bottom of the table without a point after their third game. In the 3:4 loss against Gurten, the athletes conceded three goals within ten minutes to make it 0:4, and their comeback was not rewarded. Vorwärts left Leoben empty-handed after a last-minute goal by Marco Untergrabner (95th minute) to make it 0:1.

Bad Schallerbach (3:1 against Pregarten) is flawless in the Upper Austrian League. SV Gmunden, meanwhile, is hoping for its first win of the season today. Coach Markus Waldl’s team is visiting St. Martin/M. “We won so much last season, we may have subconsciously imagined it would be a bit easier,” says sports director Christoph Brummayer after his team lost both of their opening games. “We have to get used to the Upper Austrian League first, the quality of the opponents is simply much higher.”
