Uncharted is in the closet, for good

The future of Uncharted will undoubtedly lie more in the cinema.

Neil Duckman, co-president of the Naughty Dog studio, has buried any possibility of playing Nathan Drake once more in an episode of Uncharted. In fact, during an interview given to BuzzFeedthe creator of The Last of Us said: “ for us, Uncharted was a smash hit. Uncharted 4 was one of our best-selling games and we’ve managed to put our final brush on that story and say we’re done. let’s move on to something else ».

In view of the critical and financial success of the games, we might say that Sony has exerted pressure on Naughty Dog to encourage them to release new Uncharted titles, but Neil Duckmann brushes aside this speculation: “ ils [Sony] supported us all the way and encouraged us to follow our passions. Because something is successful, people think Sony is pressuring us to develop a sequel. It’s not, and we’re really lucky to have Sony as a publisher, funding our games and supporting us. ».

However, it is not impossible that the Uncharted license will one day be the subject of a new game. Sony Interactive Entertainment might entrust a project to another studio internally and propose a new adventure, without Nathan Drake and centered on a character known or not from the license. The game would be somewhat similar to the spin-off The Lost Legacy, a stand-alone during which the player embodies Chloe Frazer, the former companion of Nathan Drake.

On the other hand, Uncharted players can hope to see Nathan Drake in the cinema once more. Even though critics and fans lukewarmly received the first film starring Tom Holland, this adaptation of the game was a considerable success au box-office.
