A scene that the inhabitants of Olen did not expect to see.
This Tuesday evening, in the Boerenkrijglaan of Olen, in the province of Antwerp, the inhabitants witnessed an astonishing scene. Indeed, a hot air balloon had to land in the street because the wind was not strong enough to land the Rabbits Ballooning Team machine elsewhere.
The balloon had taken off the same evening in Herentals. After takeoff, the wind was less strong than expected. Along the Albert Canal, the flight took place calmly. The aerostat should normally land in a meadow or open space. But after an hour of flight, the balloon was flying over houses.
Balloonist Bart Geeraerts, piloting, explains to our colleagues from The last news : « After an hour of flight, the wind turned and the hot air balloon headed for the center of Olen, where there were not many landing possibilities. »

The pilot finally landed his balloon in the grass next to a house in the Boerenkrijglaan. The inhabitants were amazed to witness this unexpected spectacle.
