Within the framework of the EPPENS Interprofessionalism International Congress, the UNAM School of Medicine welcomed its 2,168 students who make up the 2024 generation.
In three emotional ceremonies, the “Dr. Raoul Fournier Villada” brought together the students of the degrees of Surgeon, Basic Biomedical Research, Physiotherapy, Neurosciences and Science of Human Nutrition, to whom Dr. Germán Fajardo Dolci, Director of the Faculty of Medicine, gave the most cordial welcome “to this iconic auditorium that will be their home from now on. We are all here to serve you, you are our purpose. Count on us during the development of the degree and your professional career, which now begins”.
Likewise, he dedicated a few words to the parents of the new university students: “Be very happy and proud that your children are at the UNAM and in the best medical school in the country, and to whom they will love for the next five or six years. We are going to take care of and become the best doctors, researchers, physiotherapists, neuroscientists and scientists in human nutrition, thank you very much for your trust”.
On the other hand, he invited them to use the resources that the Library makes available to them and told them that there they will find all the books they will need, but if you require any title that is not there, “we will acquire it for you”.
The Director was accompanied in the different ceremonies by: Doctors Irene Durante Montiel, General Secretary; Teresita Corona Vázquez, Head of the Graduate Studies Division; Ana Elena Limón Rojas, Secretary of Clinical Teaching, Medical Internship and Social Service; Guadalupe Sánchez Bringas, Coordinator of Basic Sciences; Nuria Díaz San Juan, Executive Coordinator of the Palace of Medicine. Also, there was the presence of doctors José Narro Robles, former Rector of UNAM; Juan Miranda Ríos, Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Basic Biomedical Research; Carlos Andrés García y Moreno, Community Services Coordinator; and the teacher David Flores Macías, Coordinator of the Library System.
In addition, Dr. Armando Ortiz Montalvo, Secretary of Medical Education; Dr. Maria de los Angeles Fernandez Altuna, Secretary of School Services; the teacher Luis Arthur Gonzalez Nava, Administrative Secretary; Ms. Yasmin Aguilar Martinez, Legal and Administrative Control Secretary; the late Ignacio Villalba Espinosa, Secretary of Planning; the teacher Luis Alberto Luja Ramirez, Coordinator of the Degree in Physiotherapy; Drs Ana Flisser Steinbruch, Coordinator of the Combined Study Plan in Medicine; Melissa Islas Upegui, Head of the Academic Mobility and Institutional Linkage Unit; and Jennifer Hincapie Sanchez, Director of the University Program in Bioethics.
