BURAIDA: Date fair has started in Unaisa with large scale participation of date palm farmers. The fair started in the ‘Food City’ of Unaisa, the second largest city in Qasim. On the first day itself, hundreds of vehicles arrived at Melanagari with products. The fair is organized by UNISA Chamber of Commerce with the help of government and private agencies. The gold-colored ‘Sukari’, a special food in the living rooms of Arab families, is being auctioned at the highest price. The most sought-following variety of sukhari reaches Food City within two weeks of ripening.
Qaseem Amir Dr. Adil bin Yahya Al Rasheed, executive director of the fair, said that many trade associations, middlemen, exporters and entrepreneurs are ready to participate in the fair organized according to the instructions of Faisal bin Mishal bin Saud bin Abdul Aziz.
The Chamber’s efforts to attract farm families to date farming, which has played a major role in the economic revitalization of the region, are seeing great results. He added that the chamber is providing all kinds of facilities to the youth who are ready to enter the business sector.
