UNAIR Achieves Accreditation Success with 23 Scientific Journals at SINTA

UNAIR NEWS Airlangga University (UNAIR) has once again scored a brilliant achievement. A total of 23 UNAIR scientific journals were successfully accredited and reaccredited at SINTA 1 to SINTA 5, as released by the Institute for Innovation, Journal Development, Publishing and Intellectual Property Rights (LIPJPHKI) on Friday (15/10/2024).

Journal reaccreditation and accreditation in SINTA (Science and Technology Index) is part of the quality assessment and recognition process for the quality of scientific journals in Indonesia, by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) through ARJUNA (National Journal Accreditation).

Chair of LIPJPHKI UNAIR, Prof H Hery Purnobasuki Drs M Si PhD said that this achievement was the result of the commitment and hard work of the UNAIR academic community. He explained that the main strategy for success was the application of the “Super Team” concept and the preparation of a systematic journal development road map.

“This roadmap makes it easier for us to oversee improvements in the quality and status of journal indexes,” said Prof Hery in his statement on Friday (22/10/2024).

Each journal has a specific indexation target with assistance at the university level. According to him, having a clear roadmap will make it easier to achieve higher and better quality journal indexation.

This achievement has an impact on UNAIR’s performance in the field of research output on a national and international scale. “With the increasing quality of the journals that UNAIR manages, of course they will become a reference and destination for national and international researchers,” he added.

By increasing the quality of journals, UNAIR is expected to become a reference for researchers and contribute to Key Performance Indicator (IKU) 5. Namely, producing lecturer work that is beneficial to society.

Work results can be in several categories and each has criteria. “For example, publishing scientific journals both national and international, publishing books such as monographs or references, and so on,” he explained.

Prof. Hery said that the main obstacle in managing journals is the limited number of quality manuscripts with high diversity. Therefore, Prof Hery said that to overcome this, UNAIR focuses on improving journal quality and indexation status as an attraction for reputable writers.

“Journal quality is one of the determinants of interest author to send paper-his. “So that each journal has a target, its index status can continue to increase,” said Prof Hery. He is optimistic that clear targets for each journal will strengthen UNAIR’s contribution to the academic world.

UNAIR’s Academic Coup: 23 Scientific Journals Accredited!

UNAIR NEWS Hold onto your academic caps, folks! Airlangga University (that’s UNAIR to its mates) has just bagged a mighty achievement—23 of its scientific journals have strutted their stuff and earned shiny new accreditations! Just to be clear, we’re talking SINTA 1 to SINTA 5 levels here, as announced by the Institute for Innovation, Journal Development, Publishing, and Intellectual Property Rights (LIPJPHKI) on a lovely Friday the 15th of October, 2024. Who says Fridays are only for casual dressing?!

But before you break out the confetti, let’s get down to brass tacks. These fancy accreditations are part of the quality assessment rigmarole done by none other than the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology in Indonesia. Because who doesn’t want their academic journals to have a bit of flair on their CV? It’s like giving them a royal stamp of approval; “Yes, these journals are prominent and you can trust them… maybe even more than your local pizza joint!”

Key Strategy

Now, you might be wondering, how did UNAIR manage this incredible feat? Well, Prof H Hery Purnobasuki Drs. M. Si. PhD—let’s just call him Prof Hery because we’re not here for a tongue-twisting contest—explained that the success boiled down to the “Super Team” concept and a meticulously crafted journal development roadmap. Apparently, it’s less of a boring map and more like a treasure map but with less pirates and more professors. Arrr, matey!

According to Prof Hery, this roadmap is crucial for overseeing improvements in journal quality. It’s like giving an academic compass to a bunch of lost sailors. And hey, with clear directions, dreams of higher indexation are within reach! Who needs Google Maps when you have clear targets to guide you?

Support UNAIR’s Vision

This whole achievement translates to a serious boost for UNAIR on both the national and international research scape. It’s going to be tougher than a beef jerky chew for other universities to ignore UNAIR if it keeps this up! Like a good plot twist, increased journal quality is set to make UNAIR the go-to place for researchers everywhere—think of it as the Starbucks of academic journals!

Prof Hery audaciously mentioned that increasing the quality of journals will help produce lecturer work that benefits society overall. So next time you read a scientific journal and think “Whoa, that was enlightening,” remember to thank UNAIR for raising the bar. They might just make the world a slightly smarter place… or at the very least, a bit more entertaining.

Challenges and Solutions

Now, no good story is complete without some villain, right? The main struggle for UNAIR is the insufficiency of quality manuscripts with a splash of diversity. It’s the classic ‘there are no good papers’ problem, which, if you’ve ever been in academia, you’ll know all too well. But fear not, Super Prof Hery is on the case! With his fantastical roadmap, he’s aiming to pull in reputable writers like bees to honey—because who wouldn’t want to work with a bunch of cool academics like these?

As Prof Hery says, sparkling journal quality is a major attraction point for authors eager to submit their masterpieces. The higher they climb the index ladder, the more enticing they become! It’s like promoting a nightclub: if your club’s got a top DJ, she’s gonna attract a crowd—and who doesn’t want an audience in academia?

So there you have it, folks: when you mix journal accreditation with powerful roadmaps and a sprinkle of good old academic grit, you’ve got yourself one successful university. Who knew science could be so much fun?
