“Unacceptable”: Minister Champagne will meet the CEO of Rogers

The Minister of Industry, François-Philippe Champagne, has asked to meet the directors of Rogers and other telecom companies.

“The minister insisted that the situation was unacceptable and said so directly to the CEO of Rogers,” reads the official statement from the minister’s office.

The major outage that paralyzed part of Canada should never have happened, according to the minister, who expects “our telecommunications industry to meet the highest standards, which Canadians rightly deserve”.

A meeting is scheduled for Monday between Mr. Champagne, and the presidents of Rogers and other major telecommunications companies, to discuss improving the reliability of the networks.
