Kuwait City: The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) should be reformed and Arab countries should be given fair representation in it, Kuwait’s acting charge d’affaires at the UN, Bader Al Munayyiq, said.
He clarified Kuwait’s position while addressing the UN General Assembly on behalf of his country and the Arab group. The issue of equitable representation in the UNSC and related issues were discussed extensively in the General Council. In his speech, Munayyykh indicated the need for fair representation and other necessary measures to make the Council more effective in dealing with global challenges in a transparent, impartial and credible manner.
Munayyykh recalled that the General Council is the only forum to reach consensus on the development and rehabilitation of the UNSC in accordance with UNGA Resolution 557/62.
