A Cameroonian peacekeeper was killed on Monday January 15 and five others were injured by a mine explosion in the northwest of the Central African Republic, the UN announced. The incident took place regarding fifty kilometers from Paoua, in an area where rebel groups regularly clash with the army and its Russian mercenary allies from the Wagner group.
Soldiers from the peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic (Minusca) were escorting a team from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) when the mine exploded as the convoy passed in the village of Mbindale, some 450 km to the north of Bangui, specifies Minusca in a press release published Tuesday. The injured were evacuated to Bouar.
