UN human rights guide: ‘Great Change’ conspiracy theory fueling violence

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights also emphasized that “the war against woke (liberal, anti-racist ideology) is really a war on inclusion.”

In his message to the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Mr. Turk argued that racially mixed and multicultural societies should not be feared and should be seen as a benefit for all.

“In many countries, including Europe and North America, I am concerned about the so-called Great Change conspiracy theories – based on the false idea that Jews, Muslims, non-whites and migrants seek to ‘change’ or suppress countries’ cultures and peoples – seem to be a growing influence” , he said.

“These deceptive and very racist ideas directly affect many perpetrators of violence,” emphasized V. Turkas.

He warned that “along with the so-called war against wokewhich is really a war on inclusion, these ideas aim to exclude racial minorities, especially racial minority women, and LGBTQ+ people from full equality.”

“Multiculturalism is not a threat. This is human history, very useful for all of us,” he said.

According to V. Turk, he condemns the increasing number of attacks against LGBTIQ people and their rights.

The UN human rights leader also regretted the fact that discriminatory laws and discriminatory policies are increasingly being adopted.

Recently, such laws have been expanded, passed, or are being considered in Belarus, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Lebanon, Niger, Nigeria, Russia, and several states in the United States.

“Recognizing the rights of LGBTQ+ people means equality and the right of all to live free from violence and discrimination,” he said.
