The UN Office for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said cases of malnutrition among children detected in Gaza had jumped by almost 50% in July compared to last June.
“More than 650 Palestinian children are now suffering from acute malnutrition in the area. This is a three-fold increase in cases since May,” OCHA reported as reported by Al-Jazeera, Tuesday (6/8).
OCHA said 143 Palestinians were killed and 341 injured by Israeli air, ground and sea attacks on Gaza since last week, while 10,000 people are still missing or under the rubble of buildings in Gaza.
Some 11,000 people were affected by the Israeli military’s latest policy of ordering residents of the southern Khan Younis and northern Rafah areas to evacuate.
“The order affects 24 residential blocks covering an area of 18 square kilometers (almost 7 square miles),” the UN said. (Z-2)
