THE United Nations (UN) on Friday (6/9) called for a full investigation and accountability into the killing of a Turkish-American activist by Israeli soldiers in the northern occupied West Bank.
Responding to Anadolu Agency’s question about the UN condemning the killing of the activist, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told a press conference, “I can tell you that we want to see a full investigation into the circumstances and that people should be held accountable.”
“Once again, civilians must be protected at all times,” he added.
When asked whether there was accountability for UN personnel killed by Israel, Dujarric said, “We haven’t seen anything.”
He said investigations and accountability issues would occur after the fighting stopped.
“We have seen some movement toward accountability on the issue of mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners,” he said.
