Jeddah: The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has confirmed the end of the Umrah season of Shawwal for pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia. The Umrah season will end on May 30 (May 30), the ministry said.

The ministry added that foreign nationals can apply for Umrah visas through accredited electronic platforms for Umrah services. The ministry said it would soon announce the dates and procedures for registration and application for this year’s Hajj through its official channels.

Overseas Umrah pilgrimage was halted in 2021 following the outbreak of the corona virus. During the holy month of Ramadan, known as the pick season for Umrah, the largest number of pilgrims came for Umrah.

Eid prayers had not been held in large numbers for two years in the wake of the Kovid outbreak. However, it was only when the Kovid cases were brought under control that Saudi Arabia decided to tighten restrictions and hold Eid prayers. Hundreds of thousands of people turned out for the Eid prayers at the Haram Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.

Ruler King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman attended the Eid prayers in Makkah. Pictures of the two worshiping were released by the Saudi News Agency. Imam Sheikh Salah Al Humaid led the prayers in Makkah. Imam Sheikh Salah Al-Budair led the Eid prayers in Madinah. Believers had come early in the morning to attend the Eid prayers. King Salman wished everyone a happy Eid.
