UM6P exceeds 500 startups supported with Stargate

Dare young Moroccan and international entrepreneurs, from the innovation ecosystems of more than 15 countries. Several of them would have chosen the accompaniment of the UM6P to benefit from the proximity with its research centers, its students, but also its links with the industrial world.

According to the same source, StartGate, the UM6P start-up campus, now hosts 12 support programs for the launch and development of start-ups, and has two objectives: “Create a pipeline of future entrepreneurs by supporting people with ideas to launch their project and/or business, and serve as a springboard for the most mature startups by offering them access to international markets and investment. . »

In order to increase its capacity to welcome project leaders from Morocco and Africa more broadly, StartGate intends to expand over an area of ​​30,000 m², juxtaposing the Benguerir campus of UM6P, we learn on the press release from the university, which at the same time informs the development of these programs with “renowned national and international partners”.

Is then cited as an example the program « Explorer » in partnership with the program WITH sand box of the prestigious American University of the same name, which allows the accompaniment of project leaders from 5 Moroccan universities, public and private.

The University press release also cites the Moroccan Retail Tech Builder, comprising 4 programs, co-created with the Ministry of Industry and the OCP foundation, dedicated to merchants, U-Founders, an incubation program for students, researchers and entrepreneurs and which is spread over 6 to 24 months, but also an association with Plug&Play, described as “the global innovation platform of Silicon Valley, which accelerates the most mature Moroccan startups and gives them access to many international investors”

For Yassine Laghzioui, Entrepreneurship & Venturing Director at UM6P: “This step marks a turning point in our contribution to the development of innovative national entrepreneurship. It also demonstrates that the culture of innovation is rooted in Moroccan youth. Because behind our value creation, there is also a community whose components reflect the spirit of initiative within Moroccan society. 30% of our project leaders are women and 50% are students. Entrepreneurship is also a powerful lever for socio-economic empowerment”.
