It’s been a while since mechanical keyboard prices became realistic. However, the problem with the first mechanical keyboards released at low prices was that they did not offer a design or soft key feel that satisfied consumers. Nevertheless, the fact that mechanical keyboards, previously considered expensive hardware, could be had cheaply caught the attention of consumers and, thanks to this, the market experienced explosive growth.

However, in recent years, the quality of mechanical keyboards has improved, and various mechanical keyboards have been released into the market. Customized products that lubricate switches for smooth typing or cost hundreds of millions of won have also appeared. Looks like the second renaissance of mechanical keyboards has begun.

Recently, the quality of mechanical keyboards that can be purchased for tens of thousands of won has improved significantly. At this point you might be tempted to go wireless, but if you’re using it in a fixed location, the benefit of wireless isn’t that great, so if you can give it up, you can get pretty good key feel at a low price.

Recently, G-Clicker has been launching peripherals quite aggressively, and the product we will be reviewing today, the GK-K510X Special, is an entry-level mechanical keyboard that can be purchased at a fairly low price. Additionally, if you purchase this keyboard, a wired mouse is provided as a service, making it the most cost-effective product available.

Everything except the space required for switch placement has been completely excluded. Thanks to this, even though it is a keyboard offering a standard 104-key layout, it has a very slim design. In fact, this suggests that consumers would have preferred it more if it had been configured keyless. You can choose between two colors: black and white.

The Vicky style, which has a top-mounted switch, can have different likes and dislikes depending on the user. This is a style that the author personally doesn’t like very much, but for a solid fingerboard feel, an aluminum top plate is used and the extra space is greatly reduced, so it feels like it has been completed in a decent style for this keyboard style.

The design, which may seem boring, is enhanced by diamond cutting treatment on the edge of the aluminum top plate. The unique texture of the aluminum material is revealed, which makes it quite luxurious, and thanks to this structure and style, it looks quite expensive to the point that it does not look like a keyboard whose price is in the range of 30,000 won.

Most people thought that the switch was the element that had a decisive influence on the feel of the keys on a mechanical keyboard. However, recently, as it has become known that even ordinary switches can create an attractive key feeling or a magnificent sound that catches the ear, the criteria for selecting a mechanical keyboard have become very diverse.

If you look at the products that have gained popularity recently, you will find that most of them have a surprisingly heavy aluminum casing as their base and are products with an exquisite balance between switches, caps and keys and reinforcement plates. You might not expect all of this from an entry-level keyboard like the GK-K510X, but the red model we tested seemed to have managed to elevate key feel and sound to a decent level with just the aluminum top. It is pressed gently enough to be satisfying and produces a pleasant sound. It’s not comparable to high-end keyboards, but it’s quite attractive.

It uses JIXIAN’s CNG switch and has four choices: blue, brown, red and yellow. Since it supports gaming features like infinite simultaneous typing, I would recommend the yellow axis if you plan to use it primarily for gaming, and the brown axis if you are in an environment where typing is the main activity. If you can’t give up both gaming and keyboarding, it feels like you have no choice.

Let’s also take a look at the mouse provided as a service. This is a wired mouse with a design that you’ve probably seen somewhere before, but it’s acceptable because it’s a free gift given when you buy a keyboard. We are rather surprised by the fact that it offers a very satisfactory handling, perhaps thanks to the adoption of a proven style.

It has everything you need, including convenient forward/backward buttons and a DPI control button that can be set to 4 levels from 800 to 2400. If it had supported wireless and a slightly higher DPI , its usability would have been quite high, but I think it would be a bit greedy to expect a wireless mouse as a service for a mechanical keyboard at this price.

When you connect the power, the G-Clicker logo on the palm cover will start to glow. The LED effect is also applied along the border. The harmony between the design of the mouse and the LED light is quite good. The LED color changes continuously every 2-3 seconds.

#GK-K510X Special, more colorful with RAINBOW LED LIGHT

The G-Clicker GK-K510X Special is an inexpensive entry-level mechanical keyboard that can be purchased for as little as 30,000 won. Nonetheless, you can enjoy a luxurious feel that goes beyond the price thanks to a slim design and an aluminum top that adds a luxurious feel. There are traces of care taken to provide value beyond price, such as applying a noise filter to reduce noise to the guitar cable and applying gold plating to the connector USB.

It also supports infinite simultaneous typing for gaming. You can get a keyboard optimized for gaming at an affordable price. Additional features for more convenient use, such as the Steps Culture 2 app for smooth typing and 12 media function keys for quick media control, are also provided, and the full keyboard is very slim in size, making it makes it more convenient to use. even in relatively narrow spaces.

G-Clicker calls the LED effect applied to its peripheral series “Rainbow LED Light”. Not only does it support multiple LED modes by default, but it can also be customized according to user taste. All adjustments can be made with just the adjustment keys on the keyboard without any additional software, so once you get used to it, using it is much more intuitive.

The white version with a silver aluminum top also has a higher light reflectance, making the LED effect a little flashier. In comparison, the black color produces a slightly neater LED effect.

Users accustomed to wireless may find a wired mouse uncomfortable. However, since this is a service-packed mouse, the quality is quite good. The grip is quite comfortable, and the LED effect is pretty. You can adjust the DPI as well as the forward/back buttons, making it suitable for use in games. If you keep it handy, it’s perfect as an emergency mouse in case a mouse malfunction can occur at any time.

How can I design a Vicky style keyboard to make it look pretty? The G-Clicker GK-K510X Special feels like it’s found its own solution. It’s simple and luxurious, and the keys have a good feel. I think it would be a good idea to keep an eye on this product as it is a great value product compared to the price you pay.
