A blogger from the Dawid Does Tech Stuff channel put together a top-end computer and tested what frame rates popular games can show on it. He shared the result in a YouTube video.
As a stand, he took a PC with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card, an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor, 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and an SSD with PCI Express 4.0 support. A power supply unit with a capacity of 1.2 kW was responsible for the power supply.
The highest frame rate was achieved in Minecraft – regarding 3.6 thousand FPS. Similar values are also obtained in Half-Life 2 – 3.4 thousand FPS. CS:GO on this configuration overclocked to 1.8 thousand frames per second, but on some cards it was possible to reach the mark of more than 2 thousand FPS.
When the blogger started this experiment, he set himself the task of finding a game that might run at more than 9,000 frames per second. When the goal was not achieved, the author of the video decided to try another Intel Core i9-13900KF processor and change some settings. As a result, Minecraft began to work at 8 thousand FPS, but this result still did not satisfy him.
But in the end, the blogger managed to achieve the goal. He disabled the MSI Afterburner utility that was needed to display FPS, enabled Fraps instead, and the new program showed 9,999 FPS. After that, the enthusiast launched MSI Afterburner once more, and for a moment, the program displayed more than 10 thousand FPS.
