Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced, on Sunday, his arrival in Berlin on an official visit, coming from Rome, where he met Pope Francis and Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni.

“I am now in Berlin,” Zelensky wrote on Twitter, enumerating in his tweet, “Weapons. Strong package. Air defense. Reconstruction. European Union. NATO. Security.”

On Saturday, the German government announced that it was preparing to deliver weapons worth 2.7 billion euros to Ukraine, including 30 Leopard 1 tanks, armored vehicles, drones, air defense systems, missiles and ammunition.

Zelensky’s visit program has not yet been officially confirmed, but according to local media reports, he is expected to meet in the morning with Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

He may also go to the city of Aachen in western Germany, which will award him this year the International Charlemagne Prize for contributions to the strengthening of European unity.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will attend the ceremony in Aachen.
