Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said Russian troops advancing in the Kharkov region were trying to expand the combat zone. He said this in a video message following the 810th day of full-scale war.

According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian army is carrying out counterattack operations in the Kharkov region. The Armed Forces of Ukraine strengthened the direction of Kharkov, including Volchansk and the border areas in general. “Now our results are becoming more and more important,” the Ukrainian president said, noting that the troops were destroying Russian infantry and equipment.

Zelensky added that the intention of the Russian army is to delay the Ukrainian forces, but the Ukrainian army, according to him, will not leave Donetsk and other regions without support.

“Our task is absolutely clear: to thwart the Russian attempt to expand the war. Accomplishing this task depends literally on everyone who currently holds these positions – from Chernigov to Volchansk, from Kharkov to the Donetsk region,” Zelensky said. He stressed that for Russian troops “there should be no safe place on Ukrainian soil.”

General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on the morning of May 13, Russian troops “had tactical successes” in the battles of Volchansk, north of the Kharkov region, but by the evening, the Ukrainian army declaredthat they have repelled the Russian armed forces and are carrying out a mop-up operation in the northern suburbs of Volchansk.
