Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy strongly criticized Russian authorities for raising suspicions that Ukraine was behind the shooting attacks that occurred in Moscow, the capital.

According to the Moscow Times, a Russian English-language newspaper, on the 23rd (local time), President Zelenskyy said in a statement issued through Telegram that day, “What happened in Moscow yesterday is clear. “Russian President Vladimir Putin and all the scumbags are just trying to blame others,” he said. He continued, “They always use the same method.”

This shooting incident occurred on the 22nd at the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Krasnogorsk, northwest of Moscow. Armed men entered the concert hall and fired automatic rifles indiscriminately, resulting in regarding 200 casualties. Immediately following the incident, the Islamic State (IS), an extremist Islamic group, claimed responsibility for the attack, but Russia raised suspicions that Ukraine was behind it.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that it had arrested 11 people involved in the incident, including four key suspects. The key suspects were reportedly arrested following a chase with police in the Bryansk region, regarding 300 km southwest of Moscow. FBS claimed, “After the crime, the suspects fled in a car and attempted to cross the border between Russia and Ukraine,” and that “they had contact with the Ukrainian side.”

President Putin also mentioned this in his speech to the nation. President Putin said, “The suspects fled toward Ukraine, and according to initial information, there was a window to cross the border on the Ukrainian side,” adding, “We will find and punish everyone behind it.”
