Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected the offer of mediation presented to him by a delegation of African presidents, denouncing a “deception” of Moscow in full counter-offensive of the Ukrainian forces.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, in its daily update, has also stressed that if the Ukrainian army came up against the air superiority and the firepower of the Russians, it obtained “tactical successes” in the south.
“Allowing negotiation with Russia now, when the occupier is on our land, means freezing war, freezing pain and suffering”decided Volodymyr Zelensky during a joint press conference with African leaders.
“It is clear that Russia is again trying to use its old tactics of deception. But Russia will no longer succeed in deceiving the world”he added. “We are not going to give him a second chance”.
The delegation led to kyiv by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa had offered to mediate before going to Russia.
“There must be a de-escalation on both sides”said Cyril Ramaphosa.
From Saint Petersburg, Vladimir Putin for his part assured that the Ukrainian counter-offensive had not “no chance” to succeed, and that Western countries would be obliged to come back to him, on his terms.
