Exclusive translation:A Ukrainian pensioner shot down a Russian Su-34 worth £74m using an improvised gun, according to the British “Daily Mail”.
The man named Valery Fedorovich managed to bring down the plane while it was flying over Chernihiv and then collected the wreckage and put it in front of him as a souvenir, and as a result he was awarded a medal by the State Border Service of Ukraine.
A video clip also shows the plane falling from the sky following it was hit by gunfire, as it started swaying and then suddenly fell.
The Ukrainian Border Service said: “When the Russian occupiers constantly bombed Chernihiv, retired Valery Fedorovich took his rifle and opened fire on the enemy Su-34 fighter and destroyed it. The plane went down, and our hero received the medal.”
The State Border Service also released a short video showing Fedorovich with a rifle hung around his shoulder as he walked through buildings destroyed by Russian bombing.
