The Commission of Athletes of the Ukrainian Figure Skating Federation (UFFKK) sent a letter to a similar commission in the International Skating Union (ISU) with a call to exclude the participation of Russians in tournaments until the end of hostilities.

The head of the commission, Anna Khnychenkova, called the participation of Russians in ISU competitions in any status or form unacceptable.

The ISU announced in early April that it would consider admitting Russians and Belarusians in summer or autumn.

Tarasova called Baiul “an impenetrable fool” for calls for non-admission of Russians

Under the auspices of the ISU, competitions in figure skating, speed skating and short track are held.

Russian figure skaters have already missed two world championships.

In April, the 1994 Olympic champion, Ukrainian Oksana Baiul, appealed to the head of the IOC, Thomas Bach, with a call not to let the Russians into the Olympics in Paris.

Honored coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova said that such calls by Baiul can be explained “only by the lack of intelligence.”

Khnychenkova ended her career as a figure skater following the 2017/18 season, in which she took the penultimate place at the Pyeongchang Olympics.

The ISU Athletes’ Commission is headed by Pyeongchang Olympic champion in the team event Canadian Eric Radford.
