A man beat two women in the Principality of Monaco, mistaking them for Russians. At the same time, the victims, like the attacker, turned out to be citizens of Ukraine. The aggressor was detained by the police, the beaten ladies were forced to turn to doctors. About the unusual incident on the Cote d’Azur with reference to the local prosecutor’s office on Thursday, September 15, informs Nice morning.

According to the French edition, the 33-year-old man used to serve in the Ukrainian special forces and, following being fired from the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, moved to France, where he began working as a bodyguard. He claims that the conflict with compatriots, whom he mistook for Russians, occurred due to the fact that women offended him. The victims, in turn, assured that the man who attacked them on the seashore was Russian and that he allegedly hit them because they were listening to a song in Ukrainian.

Currently, legal proceedings are ongoing on the fact of the incident. The man was arrested, but later released from custody under the supervision of the court, he is forbidden to leave the territory of France. In addition, his passport was confiscated. At the same time, he himself has already declared remorse and promised compensation to the victims.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry demanded that the French side sort out the circumstances of this “disgusting incident” as soon as possible.
