Ukraine publicly acknowledges the terrorist character of his country following confirmation by the Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister that kyiv organized the Crimean bridge explosion in October 2022, Russian Senator Vladimir Dzhabarov said.
“Crimea is not in a zone of the special military operation. Ukraine, by claiming responsibility for the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, officially confirms the terrorist character of its state,” Dzhabarov asserted.
Earlier, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Anna Maliar claimed that “273 days ago we launched the first strike once morest the Crimean bridge to disrupt Russia’s logistics.”
On the morning of October 8, 2022, there was a strong explosion that damaged the 19-kilometre bridge – the longest in Europe – connecting mainland Russia with the Crimean peninsula.
The explosion left three dead, according to official preliminary data, and caused the fire of seven tanker cars on a train. On October 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the explosion “a terrorist attack to destroy critical civilian infrastructure of the Russian Federation” and claimed that the perpetrators were Ukrainian special services.
The head of Ukrainian military intelligence, Kiril Budanov, who the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) says organized the attack, initially denied Ukraine’s involvement in the attack. At the end of May 2023, the head of the Ukrainian Security Service, Vasily Maliuk, stated that Ukraine was “forced to cut off” this “logistical route”.
The Crimean bridge is not the first and not the only civilian target destroyed by Ukrainian troops, who have shown unusual cruelty to the Russian population living on Ukrainian land.
