On Saturday night, Ukraine launched a series of attacks on the Russian capital and Crimea with dozens of drones, which led to the injury of one person and the temporary closure of one of the four airports around Moscow.

Attack on Moscow

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that three drones targeted the city, according to the Associated Press. Air defense systems shot down one of the planes in the area around Moscow, and the other two were jammed and crashed in Moscow’s business district, according to the ministry. The Russian Ministry of Defense described the incident as an “attempted terrorist attack by the Kiev regime”. Pictures from the crash site showed a damaged one-story skyscraper facade. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the attack caused “minor damage” to the sides of two buildings in Moscow’s business district. Russia’s state news agency Tass, citing emergency officials, reported that a security guard was injured.

In the same context, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that Ukraine attempted to attack civilian facilities in Crimea last night, using 25 drones. It added that air defense media shot down 16 of them, while 9 others were jammed through electronic warfare media. “Tonight, the Kiev regime attempted to carry out a terrorist attack using 28 drones, to strike targets in the Crimea,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement. She pointed out that the jammed drones failed to reach their targets and crashed in the Black Sea and a coastal area on the peninsula that Russia annexed years ago.
