Ukraine to the south, Russia to the west… A ‘crack’ in a stagnant wire

The front, which has been stagnant for nearly a month, is changing as Ukraine and Russia continue their relentless offensive in the southern Kherson and eastern Donetsk regions, respectively.

According to AFP, Archyde.com, and Bloomberg on the 31st (local time), the Ukrainian military has succeeded in cutting off a railroad crossing the Dnipro River, one of the main supply routes in Kherson occupied by Russia.

More than 100 Russian soldiers were killed and seven tanks destroyed.

The Ukrainian army is tapping the Kherson supply route every day, including shelling the Antonowski Bridge, a key bridge in Kherson, and completely blocking the passage.

The attack blocked the passage of vehicles and trains in Kherson, making it more difficult for Russian troops stationed here to supply supplies from the occupied territory of southern Russia, including Crimea, and deepened isolation.

Russia, on the other hand, has established a bridgehead around Bakhmut, a key target of the Donetsk offensive, which has continued for nearly a month.

The Ukrainian military said Russian forces had partially succeeded in gaining control of the area by raiding Semihirya from three directions south of Bakhmut.

Bakhmut is a city that is only 30 km away from Kramatosk and Slovak, the core cities of Donetsk Oblast, and is considered as the top priority area to occupy for complete occupation of Donetsk.

At least one person was killed in Kharkiv, the Ukrainian military said, and other airstrikes in Zaporiza province continued.
