Pope Francis has called for negotiations in the Russian war of aggression once morest Ukraine. “How can one not understand that war only creates destruction and death, divides the people and kills truth and dialogue,” asked the Catholic Church leader on Sunday following the traditional Angelus prayer in front of believers and visitors in Rome.
“I pray and hope that all international actors will start negotiations once more and not feed the futility of the war,” said the 85-year-old Argentine.

The pontiff plans to travel to the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv because of the war. However, there is no date for this yet. High representatives of the Vatican, such as number two, Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, or the quasi-foreign minister, Archbishop Paul Richarda Gallagher, have already confirmed the Holy Father’s plan.
