Ukraine, the US approves a new aid package. Zelensky: “Important” – Time

Green light from the US House of Representatives for mostly military aid to Ukraine for 61 billion dollars, to Israel for 26 and to Taiwan and the Indo-Pacific region for eight. The approval came with 311 votes in favor and 112 against, therefore with a large majority, after months of political conflict between Democrats and Republicans, particularly regarding support for Kiev. Ukraine is engaged in a conflict with Russia, while Israel is conducting military operations in the Gaza Strip and is also experiencing a phase of high tension in relations with Iran. Taiwan, de facto independent, is considered a breakaway province by China. The measures approved by the House will have to be submitted to the Senate in the next few days. The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said he was “grateful” for Washington’s vote and added: “Democracy and freedom will always have global significance and will never be lost as long as America helps us protect them.” The interpretation given by the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Marija Zakharova, is opposite. According to the manager, US military aid constitutes “direct support for terrorist activities”.
