Modi discusses situation in Ukraine with Putin after his visit and after talks with Biden
The Prime Minister of India, Narendra-Modi“exchanged perspectives” on Tuesday on the war in Ukraine with the Russian president, Vladimir Putinduring a telephone conversation just 24 hours after having discussed the conflict with the President of the United States, Joe Biden.
“We exchanged views on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and on my recent visit to Ukraine,” Modi said on social media X, before adding that he reiterated “India’s firm commitment to supporting an early, lasting and peaceful resolution of the conflict”.
The Indian leader also said he had discussed how to “continue strengthening the strategic partnership “special and privileged” relationship between India and Russia.
Modi, after travelling to Moscow last July, visited Ukraine last week and signed a joint declaration in kyiv with Ukrainian President, Volodímir Zelenski, focused on finding possible ways to end the war with Russia.
The conversation with Putin arrives less than 24 hours after Modi dealt with Bidenduring a telephone call, the situation in Ukraine.
