A massive Russian drone and missile attack targeted several power plants in east-central Ukraine last night. The Ukrainian Energy Minister made this known, while Warsaw reported strengthened surveillance of Polish airspace. An air alert was issued throughout Ukraine overnight. Energy production sites in the Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Cherkasy regions were especially targeted, Minister German Galushchenko said. In a statement, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Sergiy Lysak, said that «this night the air defense forces shot down ten drones over the region – in the Pavlograd, Kryvyi Rig, Dnipro, Kamiansky districts. Four missiles were destroyed over Dnipro. Several energy plants were damaged. In one of them a man was injured.”
In Kamianske, an agricultural cooperative was hit and five people were injured: a 5-year-old child and two women aged 19 and 47, who did not need hospitalization, and two men aged 36 and 47, who are in serious condition. Meanwhile, the Polish military said their country’s military planes took off to monitor Polish airspace due to Russian missiles in western Ukraine. “Last night, intense long-range air activity by the Russian Federation was observed, linked to missile attacks once morest targets on Ukrainian territory,” the Polish army command said in a statement. Polish and allied aircraft were activated this morning, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported on X. «Polish and allied aircraft operate in Polish airspace, which might lead to increased noise levels, especially in the south-eastern part of the country. Tonight there is increased activity of long-range flights of the Russian Federation Air Force,” the Command added.
