[ブリュッセル ５日 ロイター] – Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmykhal on Wednesday asked the European Union for more arms and equipment, and offered gas to reduce the EU’s dependence on Russia.
“We need more modern weapons such as air defense, missile defense and ship defense,” he told reporters following a meeting of the EU-Ukrainian Union Council.
Aircraft and armored vehicles are also needed, he said, as Russia appears unwilling to end the war.
He also said Ukraine might supply gas to the EU to ease the energy crisis that is driving up prices. “We can replace most of our imports from Russia,” he said.
“We have 30 billion cubic meters of gas storage, part of which we can offer our European partners to replace Russia in a volatile market,” he added.
Meanwhile, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Borrell said Ukraine would continue to support Ukraine despite “any threats or intimidation” from Russia. “We will provide political, financial, humanitarian and military assistance as long as it is needed,” he said.
