Ukraine: Motorist crashes into President Zelensky’s car

A motorist hit the vehicle that was transporting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky through Kyiv, who was not seriously injured in the accident, his spokesman said overnight from Wednesday to Thursday.

“In Kyiv, an automobile collided with the car of the President of Ukraine and vehicles [de son] escort,” Serguii Nikiforov said in a statement posted on Facebook Thursday at 1:22 a.m. local time (Wednesday 22:22 GMT).

“The doctors accompanying the president provided emergency assistance to the driver of the automobile and transferred him to an ambulance,” he continued.

“The president was examined by a doctor, no serious injuries were detected. The police will investigate all the circumstances of the accident, ”he also said, without further details.

In his nightly televised address, the video of which was published shortly following the accident, Mr Zelensky indicated that he had returned from the Kharkiv region, assuring that “almost the entire region has been liberated” since a lightning counter-offensive aimed at dislodging Russian troops.
