(Istanbul = Yonhap News) Correspondent Jo Seong-heum = Ukraine and Russia are making progress slowly but little by little for their respective immediate goals of restoring Kherson and taking over Donetsk.

According to Archyde.com, Bloomberg and TASS news agency on the 13th (local time), the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that they had captured Pisky outside the eastern city of Donetsk.

Pisky is a Ukrainian-controlled area just northwest of the city of Donetsk, the stronghold of pro-Russian separatists in Donetsk Oblast.

However, some point out that it is difficult to say that Russia has taken control of Fisk this time as well, as Russia said it had completely occupied Fisk last week.

Russia also claimed to have destroyed a high-speed mobile artillery rocket system (HIMARS) and an ammunition depot near Kramatorsk.

As Russia continued to bombard Donetsk indiscriminately, civilian casualties continued.

Donetsk Governor Pablo Kirilenko said five civilians were killed and 35 injured in Russian attacks in Donetsk province in the last 24 hours. In particular, in Kramatorsk, two people were killed and 13 others were injured, he said.

Ukrainian forces continued their operation to disrupt Russian supplies to restore southern Kherson.

“The air force has attacked five Russian weapons and equipment depots north of Mykolayu and east of Kherson,” the Ukrainian Operations Command in Southern Ukraine said.

The British Defense Ministry said through an information update that two major bridges linking Kherson across the Dnipro River lost their function as military supplies due to Ukrainian bombardment, and even if repaired, they became a key weak point for Russian forces.

“Thousands of Russian troops on the west bank of the river depend almost entirely on supplies,” the Defense Ministry said.

He added that the Ukrainian military has a long-range attack capability capable of striking Russian supply lines across Kherson.

Since the end of last month, the Ukrainian military has been conducting an operation to isolate the troops garrisoned in Kherson, including bombing the Antonowski Bridge that connects Kherson and the occupied territory of southern Russia every day.
