Russia supplies blood and medical equipment to border areas
Donbass explosion every day… casualties increase
On the 23rd (local time), the Ukrainian government decided to declare a state of emergency in all areas except Donbas. As Russian troops entered eastern Donbas, Ukraine began preparing for an all-out war by convening a reserve force and allowing civilians to possess firearms.
The Ukrainian Security Council approved a plan to declare a state of emergency, according to Archyde.com. If approved by Congress, the state of emergency will last for 30 days, with the possibility of an extension of 30 days depending on circumstances. In emergencies, checkpoints are strengthened and movement is restricted, such as going out and prohibition of night traffic. Ukraine’s parliament has passed legislation allowing civilians to possess firearms and act in self-defense.
The Ukrainian Army also posted on social networking service (SNS) on the same day, “Reserve troops aged 18 to 60 are being called. The maximum period of service is one year,” said AFP news agency. The AFP estimated the reserve force to be regarding 200,000. Ukraine’s foreign ministry has advised its citizens staying in Russia to leave immediately.
The West, including the United States, predict that Russia will soon launch a large-scale military attack. President Joe Biden said on the 22nd that “Russia has supplied a large amount of blood and medical equipment to the border area. “If you’re not planning to go to war, why do you need blood?”
The US Department of Defense has strengthened its Eastern European forces by forwardly deploying eight F-35 stealth fighters and 32 AH-64 Apache attack helicopters to the three Baltic countries, including Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, and Poland. 800 troops stationed in Italy were also moved to the three Baltic countries. A senior U.S. Department of Defense official said, “The purpose is to reassure NATO allies and deter potential attacks on these countries.”
The sound of explosions continues in Donbass every day. On the 22nd, at least 11,500 people were damaged as electricity and heating were cut off in the DTek regional power plant in Lugansk region. It was not known if there were any casualties or who fired the bombardment. Three people were killed in an explosion on the Donetsk-Gorlovka highway. On the 23rd, an explosive detonated at the Donetsk TV Center in the region of pro-Russian rebel forces in Donetsk. On the 22nd, two Ukrainian soldiers were killed and 18 were seriously injured, while one rebel was killed and three were injured. Two civilians were killed and five were injured.
